What to expect on the test
In Texas everyone who applies for a Class M motorcycle license first completes a motorcycle safety course approved by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The course checks what you know, and once it is completed the Department of Public Safety waives its own motorcycle knowledge test. The course teaches from the Texas Motorcycle Operator Training Manual, the same book these questions are written from.
The questions here cover that manual, 2025 edition: riding gear, controls and inspection, lane position and following distance, intersections, being seen, quick stops and swerving, dangerous surfaces, passengers and group riding, alcohol and fatigue, and three-wheel motorcycles. Every answer links to its page in the manual. The practice exam is 20 questions with 14 to pass.
Practise topic by topic before the course, so the classroom part is a review rather than new material, then take the practice exam until you pass it comfortably.
